Andy Beshear, Gobernador de Kentucky, anunció durante su conferencia de prensa, nuevas restricciones y guías para ayudar a prevenir la propagación del virus.
El mandatario reportó 2,753 nuevos casos del COVID 19 Y 15 personas más fallecieron este miércoles, el cuarto con la cifra más alta de casos nuevos positivos en Kentucky desde que se inició la pandemia.
Solo en Louisville se reportaron 530 nuevos casos.
Aunque no se perfila un nuevo cierre total de actividades como sucedió en la primavera, durante las siguientes varias semanas, nuevas restricciones serán anunciadas especialmente en lugares en donde el brote del virus se propague mas rápido, dijo Beshear.
“Ninguna de estas decisiones son fáciles de tomar y puedo decir que ninguna de ellas será popular. Pero ahora es el momento de tomar la decisión de si vamos a dejar que nuestros compañeros kentuckianos se enfermen y algunos mueran o si vamos a tomar una posición firme ante la tercera ola del virus,” señala Beshear.
Las nuevas medidas
A partir del viernes 20 de noviembre a las 2 p.m. hasta el martes domingo 13 a la media noche, las siguientes restricciones tomarán vigencia:
• Las reuniones privadas serán limitadas al círculo familiar más otro hogar adicional.
Deben de haber no más de 8 personas en este tipo de reuniones.
• En lugares públicos, espacios para eventos o teatros, el número máximo deberá ser de 25 personas, incluyendo bodas y funerales.
• Restaurantes y bares deben cerrar el servicio en persona.
• Gimnasios, centros de ejercicios físicos y piscinas deben funcionar solo al 33% de su capacidad máxima. Las clases en grupo quedan prohibidas.
• Todas las escuelas o colegios públicos y privados desde Kínder hasta el grado 12 deben cesar las clases en persona a partir del 23 de noviembre.
Beshear añade que bares y restaurantes constituyen un área en la que se ha detectado como lugares en donde se da una gran propagación del virus.
El Centro para la Prevención de Enfermedades, CDC, la Universidad John Hopkins y la Universidad de Stanford, han publicado estudios recientes en donde se demuestra que los restaurantes y los bares están claramente propagando el virus, y quizás pudieran ser los lugares en donde más se propaga el virus,” dijo Beshear. “Cualquier esfuerzo que se haga por minimizar el crecimiento exponencial que estamos viendo requiere que tomemos este paso y nuestros departamentos de salud a nivel local, están de acuerdo en que la propagación que estamos viendo se da en estos lugares.”
Sin embargo, el Gobernador aprobó un plan para destinar $40 millones en fondos de ayuda por el COVID 19 para ayudar a bares y restaurantes a superar los daños. Los restaurantes y bares que cumplan con los requerimientos pueden recibir hasta $10 mil dólares en ayuda para el pago de pérdidas del negocio.

Governor announces new restrictions as third COVID-19 wave spreads through Kentucky

Gov Andy Beshear announced new restrictions and guidelines to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 Wednesday in a news conference.
Beshear announced 2,753 new COVID-19 cases and 15 deaths Wednesday, making it the fourth highest day of new positive cases in Kentucky since the pandemic began.
As of Wednesday, there were 530 new positive cases reported in Jefferson county.
Beshear said there will not be a shutdown but for the next several weeks, there will be more restrictions on locations where the virus is spreading more often.
“None of these decisions are easy and I can tell you none of them will be popular but now is the time we make the decision of whether we are going to let our fellow kentuckians become sick and more of them die or if we’re going to take a stand against the third wave of this virus,” said Beshear.
Beginning Friday at 2 p.m. until Dec. 13 at 11:59 p.m. the following restrictions will be in place:
- Private gatherings will be limited to your current household plus one other household. There should only be 8 people or less at these gatherings.
- There will be more than 25 people per room at indoor venues, event spaces or theaters. This will include funerals and weddings.
- Restaurants and bars will be closed por indoor dining.
- Gyms, fitness centers and pools will be limited to 33 percent maximum capacity and group classes will be prohibited
- All public and private schools K-12 must cease in-person instruction beginning Nov. 23
Beshear said that restaurants and bars have areas where they have seen a large spread of the virus.
“The CDC, Johns Hopkins, Stanford university, have all released recent studies showing that restaurants and bars are clearly spreading, if not the greatest spread of COVID-19,” said Beshear. “Any effort to lessen the exponential growth we are seeing right now requires this step and our local health departments agree that we are seeing a spread at these facilities.”
However, the Governor approved a plan to allocate $40 million of the COVID-19 Relief Fund to help restaurants and bars with the financial strain. Restaurants and bars who meet the requirements can receive up to $10 thousand to help pay for various costs.
