Al Día en América, in tandem with the Latin American & Latino Studies Program, the Department of Classical and Modern Languages organized this event as part of the citywide celebration of this traditional Mexican celebration. The newspaper gratefully thanks all the businesses and organizations participating in the contest. This activity serves to help build bridges of understanding across the richly diverse cultures sharing Louisville’s urban space. Locals dining at Mexican restaurants can see how our neighboring country celebrates, commemorates, and remembers their dearly departed. Mexicans, including those of Mexican descent residing in the city, can stay close to the celebrations in their country of origin. Al Día en América will announce the next contest on August 15, 2023.
The journal thanks the effort, work, and collaboration of restaurants and organizations whose labor and enthusiasm made this contest possible. Al Día en América recognizes the work of the jury who traveled around the city, fulfilling the difficult task of selecting a winner from altars revealing creativity and dedication to excellence from all involved in their design.
